About Me

Art is the constant thread woven throughout my life -- something I’ve always created, always intuited, always dreamt. Painting all the while, I always planned on looking to the building blocks in my life before focusing on creating a full body of work. This foundation includes an undergraduate liberal arts education from Boston University and a graduate degree from New York University; both volunteer and paid positions on political and social justice campaigns; art therapy experience with children and families touched by HIV/AIDS; intensive legislative work in the U.S. Senate on issues from support for the arts to family & medical leave; communications work at the United Nations; travel in Europe, Asia and South America; experiencing the thrills of parenthood and living life with a spouse who consistently teaches me new ways of thinking. These are the tools which allow me to be called an artist.

I grew up in Minnesota, creating art amidst the snow, humidity, lakes, nice and ice, and then moved East for twenty years, where I discovered there were other brunettes in the world -- first to Boston, then to Washington, DC and then to NYC, where I lived for twelve years and get back to as often as possible. For almost as long as I can remember, I’ve spent a portion of each year on the beaches of Sanibel/Captiva Islands, which has had a direct impact on my work. When I'm not lucky enough to be traveling (or scheming our next adventure) I can be often be found in our 1918 home in SW Minneapolis, where I live a crazy, full life with my philosophizing Prince Charming, two enthusiastic black & white shichons named Daisy and Wilson, and three recurring guest stars, who still endearingly -- when they're not realizing it -- instinctively call me “Mommy,”
